COhatch to breathe new life into a 1920s historic bank building in downtown Lakewood

CLEVELAND, OHIO | December 3, 2024 – A century-old bank building in downtown Lakewood, Ohio, is writing its next chapter as an innovative coworking and community space. COhatch, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, is bringing their innovative workspace and lifestyle concept to the Lakewood community. The historic structure, originally constructed in 1920, is undergoing a thoughtful renovation to create a dynamic workplace while preserving its architectural history.

The 16,285-square-foot building will offer a diverse mix of workspace solutions across its first and second floors. The renovation maintains many of the building’s distinctive banking features while introducing modern amenities designed for today’s workforce.

“This transformation in downtown Lakewood represents the perfect blend of historical preservation and modern community which is our speciality here at COhatch. We think through every detail to ensure that our neighborhoods, like Lakewood, have a place to work that’s functional and inspiring,” said Matt Davis, CEO at COhatch. “We’re excited to breathe new life into this downtown landmark while creating a space that fosters collaboration and community.”

The renovated space will feature 36 private offices ranging from single-person suites to a nine-person office space, accommodating teams of various sizes. Additional amenities include five meeting rooms, eight phone booths, a wellness room, and six dedicated desks. The building’s former banking hall has been reimagined as a 1,050-square-foot premium meeting space, maintaining its grand architectural details while serving a new purpose.

The space will accommodate up to 81 coworking members, creating a bustling community of professionals in the heart of downtown. This adaptive reuse project not only preserves a piece of Lakewood’s architectural heritage but also provides modern professionals with a unique and inspiring workplace.
