New location to include restaurant concept and large events space
PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, May 25, 2022 – COhatch, a rapidly growing, community-focused company which develops innovative shared work and social spaces, has announced a third location in Pittsburgh at 2681 Sidney Street at SouthSide Works.
The COhatch team was specifically seeking out the area for quite a few reasons. With locations under construction in Shadyside and The Waterfront, SouthSide Works is perfect for bridging the two sites. Also, because local culture and history are the main inspiration for the design of their spaces, the vibrant energy of the area was a big selling point, too.
“The proximity to so many different small businesses and large corporations was another big reason we wanted to find a building to renovate in this neighborhood,” said Matt Davis, COhatch CEO and co-founder. “Our services cater to teams of all shapes and sizes, so we’re really looking forward to seeing how we can help these organizations with their unique needs.”
COhatch offers private offices, coworking, meeting rooms, and event spaces at all locations. The SouthSide Works location will also feature a restaurant concept that has not yet been announced, as well as a large-scale events space that will allow for bigger events than the spaces at COhatch’s other Pittsburgh locations. COhatch members will have access to all locations, in and out of Pittsburgh.
“We’re also looking forward to helping nonprofits and startups in the area grow and thrive through our GIVE and BOOST Scholarships, which will give them free access to our spaces,” said Davis. “GIVE and BOOST Scholars can use their scholarships to meet with investors in a professional setting, collaborate with their teams, host events and so much more.”
COhatch is joining the ranks of the amazing retailers and restaurants that call SouthSide Works home, many of which, like COhatch, were brought in by CBRE’s property management team and office and retail leasing teams.
“The addition of COhatch to SouthSide Works adds such a unique element to our already successful tenant mix,” said Herky Pollock, executive vice president and northeast Director of Retailer Services group of CBRE, Inc. “ The combination of coworking, meeting rooms, podcast rooms and event space, paired with a full-service restaurant is unheard of in the Pittsburgh market. It checks so many boxes in the post-pandemic era.”
SomeraRoad, Inc., the owner and operator of SouthSide Works, is investing over $37 million in capital improvements and over $130 million in new development on the property and riverfront parcels as a part of its master plan to revitalize the property.
“COhatch is a key tenant to the new SouthSide Works and we’re excited to welcome them,” says Jonathon Reeser, Principal Co-Head of Acquisitions for SomeraRoad. “With the new dog park and town square concepts opening soon, along with tenants like Pins Mechanical, The Speckled Egg, Commonplace Coffee, and Rite Aid, COhatch completes the live-work-play vision for the property in a meaningful way. They are leaders in the coworking space because they bring more to the table than innovative space, like events, membership perks, food and beverage and more. SouthSide Works mirrors those qualities which makes it the perfect location.”
COhatch SouthSide Works is the company’s 31st location open or under development across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Florida. The company aims to have 500 locations in 50 communities across the U.S. by 2032, with as many as 15 in the greater Pittsburgh area.
Construction on COhatch SouthSide Works is set to begin in 2023 with a grand opening slated for later that year. For updates on Pittsburgh construction, early access and where COhatch is headed next, sign up for their newsletter.
